Dr Alice Garvey’s research focusses on subnational low energy demand futures, particularly the intersections of regional development, decarbonisation and equity. Her doctoral research considered the concept of ‘spatially just transitions’ and the fairness implications of decarbonisation for the UK’s regions. As part of the Centre for Research into Energy Demand Solutions (CREDS), Alice previously conducted energy demand scenario modelling for the food and steel sectors and was the food system lead as part of the Positive Low Energy Futures (PLEF) project. Alice has also conducted analysis of industrial decarbonisation policies for the Climate Change Committee to inform the Sixth Carbon Budget advice, and has a research interest in the geography of industrial decarbonisation.

Alice is also PI of the Fair Rural Energy Futures: Towards equitable energy demand reduction in rural England flexible fund project
