Rachel Walters is a PhD researcher at the Monash Sustainable Development Institute (MSDI), Monash University. Her research explores the interplay between place attachment and energy justice, focusing on how these dynamics shape Australian community energy initiatives and contribute to more just energy transition pathways.
Prior to commencing her PhD, Rachel worked as a Research Officer at the Monash School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. Rachel has extensive experience across health and behavioural safety science research, including roles as a clinical trials coordinator in public health research, a project officer in private oncology research, and research positions at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and the Parenting Research Centre. Rachel also worked on multiple Behavioural Safety Science projects at the Monash University Accident Research Centre.
Rachel holds a Graduate Diploma SocSc in Psychology from Swinburne University of Technology and a BA (Hons) in Human Geography from London Metropolitan University.
