Prof Tim Foxon is Professor of Sustainability Transitions at SPRU (Science Policy Research Unit), University of Sussex. His research explores co-evolution of technologies and institutions for a sustainable net zero transition, and relations between energy use and economic growth. He is co-Investigator in the Governance theme of the Energy Demand Research Centre. He was previously a co-Investigator for the Digital Society theme and Local Green New Deals project of the UK Centre for Research into Energy Demand Solutions (CREDS, 2018-23), as well as on EPSRC Transition Pathways for a Low Carbon Economy (2008-12) and Realising Transition Pathways (2012-16) projects; ESRC Centre for Climate Change Economics Phase 1 (2008-13) and Phase 2 (2013-18); UK Energy Research Centre Phase 3 (2015-18); EPSRC Operationalising Socio-Technical Energy Transitions (21srt018-21) and ESRC Transit – Modelling Transition Risk project under the Rebuilding Macroeconomics Sustainability Hub (2018-21).
He has published 2 books, over 80 academic articles in leading energy, innovation and sustainability journals, 15 book chapters and over 20 research reports. His book on ‘Energy and Economic Growth: Why we need a new prosperity’, was published by Routledge in 2018, and he has recently published a chapter on ‘Green Growth and Post Growth’ in the Routledge Handbook of Energy Transitions.
