Jacopo combines research on economic tools for energy policies, including cost-benefit analysis and impact assessment, with work in specific areas of energy demand in the built environment, with emphasis on demand side response, dynamic tariffs and the timing of demand practices.
Jacopo has published over 100 papers. His recent books include Peak Energy Demand and Demand Side Response (2015), Energy Fables (2019) and Appraising the Economics of Smart Meters (2020) and are all published with Routledge.
He is Co-Editor in Chief of Energy Sources Part B: Economics, Planning, and Policy. A video of his professorial inaugural lecture is available here.
Jacopo is a member of Ofgem Academic Panel and Defra Economics Advisory Panel. He has been a member of the British Standards Institution’s Strategic Advisory Group of the Energy Smart Appliances programme and a member of the Advisory Board for the Energy Alternative Energy Markets Programme of the Department for Business Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
Before joining the University of Reading, Jacopo held teaching and research positions at the London School of Economics, the University of Surrey, the European University Institute and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
