Dr Joshua Lait is a Research Fellow in the Governance of Energy Demand Reduction at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU), University of Sussex.

He completed a PhD in Human Geography at the University of Exeter. His doctoral research examined the unintended consequences of policy for energy use, the framing of energy challenges, and the possibilities for energy demand reduction.

Additionally, he has conducted EU-funded research on the role of cross-sectoral policy coordination in supporting sustainable transitions in local/regional transport systems.

Previously, he has held an energy research fellowship at the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology funded by the UK Energy Research Centre. During this fellowship, he published a report on longer-duration energy storage for policymakers in the UK Parliament.
