Gerardo A. Torres Contreras is a Research Fellow in Energy Studies at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU), University of Sussex. His research looks at the politics of climate change mitigation through two themes. First, his research examines equity and governance issues about energy demand reduction through Smart Local Energy Systems and Double Energy Vulnerability in the United Kingdom. Second, his research also investigates the interlinkage between processes of agrarian change and the deployment of climate mitigation technologies in Latin America. He obtained the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Development Studies at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, UK. Gerardo Left EDRC in October 2024.
