Green Jobs and Skills

Flyer promoting the event

The UK is on a mission to achieve net zero by 2050 — and green jobs and skills are at the heart of this transformation.

Be part of the conversation at our exciting panel event dedicated to the future of green careers and sustainable skills. Hear from leading voices across Greater Manchester, including experts from a range of sectors who are driving change and shaping opportunities in this vital area.

Whether you’re a student, professional, policymaker, or just passionate about a greener future — this is an event you won’t want to miss! Our speakers include: Christian Calvillo Munoz (University of Strathclyde), Mike Cunliffe (Manchester City Council), Stefan Bouzarovski (University of Manchester) and Venetia Knight (Groundwork Greater Manchester).

The in-person event will start at 2:00pm, with refreshments served until 2:15pm, when the online session will begin.

This event is part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science 2025 and was made possible thanks to funding from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), which is part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).

This event is hosted in collaboration with EDRC (Energy Demand Research Centre) and the JUST Centre (Centre for Joined-up Sustainability Transformations). The EDRC addresses the unique opportunity to realise benefits from energy demand reductions in industry, businesses, transport and homes (Grant number EP/Y010078/1). The JUST Centre focuses on the pursuit of sustainability transformations that are people-centred, ‘joined-up’ and socially just and is funded by the UKRI Building a Green Future strategic theme and the ESRC (Grant number ES/Z504130/1).
